FAQ

What if I’ve never had therapy before?

That’s completely okay — many of my clients are new to therapy. I’ll go at your pace and answer any questions along the way.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy and what you’d like to work on. You can ask any questions, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with.

How long is each session?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and typically take place weekly, although this can be adjusted depending on your needs.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others find longer-term therapy more helpful. We’ll review things regularly together.

Do you offer online or telephone counselling?

Yes, I offer sessions via Zoom and telephone as well as in-person. You can choose what feels most comfortable for you, and we can change formats if needed.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Yes — what you share in therapy is confidential. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. I’ll explain this in more detail during our first session.

What types of issues can I talk to you about?

You can bring anything that’s on your mind — from anxiety, low mood, grief, or relationship issues, to feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Therapy is a space where nothing is “too small” to talk about.

How do I book a session?

You can book a session using the Booking page, or feel free to contact me directly if you have questions before booking.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less notice may be charged the full session fee.
